Not
only are radio and television stations reporting the latest
on the military activity involving Iraq, but now a California
radio station is doing something to help the families of those
being deployed to the Persian Gulf from it's community. Z107.7
is located in Twentynine Palms -- home of the enormous US Marine
Corps Air/Ground Combat Center. Here's Z107.7's press release.

OFFERING SUPPORT FOR MILITARY DEPENDENTS
Z107-7 Radio (KCDZ-FM) is coordinating an effort to support
dependents left in the Morongo Basin by deploying Marines
and Sailors.
Area citizens and businesses who want to offer help can do
so by going to the Z107.7 website at www.kcdzfm.com.
Just click on DEPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE on the home
page and list what help you can offer and a phone number or
e-mail address where you can be contacted.
Some of the things that can be done to help out the dependents
is offering baby-sitting, basic mechanical services, rides
to the kids for soccer or bringing over that forgotten gallon
of milk or dozen eggs.
In its first day, the site already has offers for personal
help from Sharon at Tropical Day Spa and free computer use
to e-mail deployed servicemembers from Collins Computer Innovations.
Military Dependents who are in need of services or assistance
can just go the site and see who is offering. There is no
charge for the service, dependents who do not have access
to a computer can go to Collins Computer Innovations in Twentynine
Palms and access the site there at no charge.
The Dependent support website is the brainchild of Z107.7
News and Program Director Gary Daigneault.
Area businesses are urged to offer substantial discounts
or free services to show the support of the civilian community
to our military residents.
The site itself is co-sponsored by Z107.7 and Collins Computer
innovations. For information or to have list of offered services
faxed or mailed to you call Gary Daigneault at 760-366-8471.
