RADIO STATION Z107.7 TO HONOR 9-11 ATTACK VICTIMS
Radio station Z107.7-FM in Joshua Tree will dedicate September
11, 2002 to
the memory of the victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks. General
Manager
Cindy Daigneault announced that the one year anniversary of
the attacks
will be, "A day of public service dedicated to the memory
of the victims".
On September 11, the popular radio station will play no commercials.
Instead, in the times where commercials would normally be
heard, area human
and health service charities will be given the time to inform
the public
about their services.
In addition, the music heard on the station will feature
Patriotic themed
songs and music designed to inspire and uplift by various
contemporary
artists. In addition, the station will air messages of support
from area
leaders and elected officials.
The decision to run no commercials was not an easy one, Daigneault
said, "
Z107-7 wanted to do something that would show our deep feelings
for the
victims and their survivors while at the same time honoring
and supporting
our military forces fighting the evil forces of terrorism
around the world.
By donating all of our commercial time to local charities
on the
anniversary of the attacks, we felt we could show that respect
as well as
our deep commitment to the Morongo Basin communities."
Z107-7 is the only locally owned, operated and originated
Radio station in the Morongo Basin. Since they went on the
air in 1989, they have garnered top national recognition for
News, Community service, and programming excellence.
