For you planning purposes METRO’s special 405 website  is http://www.metro.net/projects/I-405. You’ll find plenty of detour information there, but I asked my friend and colleague Kevin Takumi for some of his ideas. After all, he sees our city from SKYFOX all the time. Here are some of his tips. And, be sure to join us all week on FOX 11 News and on our many special newscasts planned for 405 closure weekend!

Kevin’s tips:

• 1. Freeways best bet 101 5. If going to Santa Clarita and north use 101/170 or 5. Do not try and reconnect with 405 unless you have to
• 2. East canyon routes Beverly Glen, Coldwayer, Laurel. But beware. One accident will stop things completely since they are only 1 lane each direction roads
• 3. West canyons: Topanga. Malibu. Kanan. Fastest probably Malibu. Same warning as the East canyons. Also be advised PCH westbound will probably be slow until Malibu.
