Tonight is the night! After 6 weeks of warnings and predictions we will see if taking down half a bridge triggers nasty LA gridlock. Carmageddon – will all hell break loose or will we survive? USC Professor Genevieve Giuliano says traffic on some freeways will be heavier than normal particularly on the 5 and 110, but barring some unexpected problem (like an awful wreck) we should slide thru this unscarred.

Others, though, aren’t s sure. We shall see won’t we?

7PM – 405 on-ramps between the 10 and the 101 will begin to be closed

10PM – lanes on the 405 will begin closing from the 10 to the 101

midnight – all traffic should be cleared off the 405 and demolision begins

Closure continues for 53 hours – freeway is supposed to reopen at 5am Monday morning
